Hello,I hope you are savoring life's sweet moments. Last week we spoke about the irreplaceable value of time in your recovery journey. Today, let's take that concept a step further and discuss how you can truly make the most of each sober day.Think of your day as a blank canvas. Every morning, you're given a fresh opportunity to paint your own masterpiece. The beauty of it all? You're in control of the brushstrokes, the colors, and ultimately, the final picture. This is very timely because I am engaging in a reset of my canvas, if you will. This morning, instead of getting up, drinking coffee, and reading for a while, I got up and got straight in the shower. I grabbed a cup of coffee walking out the door. Instead of listening to the radio on my commute, I started making phone calls. I’m on fire for our programs and the services we provide, so I better act like it. One of the items below that I have yet to implement is physical activity. I know physical activity helps my mental health as well as my body, so I would be remiss not to engage in it.So, what's your masterpiece going to look like? Here are a few tips to help you get started:Set a Routine: Consistency can be a comforting guidepost in recovery. Plan your day to include moments for self-care, professional growth, and leisure.Stay Active: Physical activity is not just good for the body; it's excellent for the soul. Even a short walk can make a world of difference.Connect: Rebuilding relationships or forming new connections can be incredibly fulfilling. Make time for family, friends, or community groups that uplift you.Reflect and Plan: Take a few moments each day to consider what went well, what you learned, and how you can improve tomorrow.Celebrate the Small Wins: Every day won't be a home run, and that's okay. Acknowledge your small victories—they add up!By embracing these daily practices, you can transform your empty hours into rich experiences, filled with growth, connection, and joy. Remember, each day you’re sober is a victory! Celebrate it, cherish it, and most importantly, make the most of it.As always, I'm here to chat if you have any questions or need a little push in the right direction.
All the best,
